DEFENDER

The existence of experimentation laboratories focused on Interconnected IoT (Internet of Things) through 5G networks (IoT/5G) and ICS (Industrial Control Systems) with cyber attack detection capabilities is essential for these technologies to reach society at large. The purpose of IoT/5G and ICS laboratories is to promote Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) within the community of researchers and scientists, both in Spain and internationally. By using these laboratories, researchers can develop new techniques, methodologies and solutions based on the technologies implemented in the lab, avoiding the cost of having these elements in their own facilities. With this motivation, the DEFENDER strategic project proposes an architecture capable of detecting cyber attacks in two laboratories (IoT/5G and ICS), thus fostering RDI activities in Spain and strengthening the cybersecurity capabilities of professionals, researchers, and companies. This proposal aligns with Objective IV of the National Cybersecurity Strategy, defined as “Culture and commitment to cybersecurity and enhancement of human and technological capabilities.”. This project has been funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, Next Generation EU
